Barros wines were born at the turbulent beginning of the 20th century, in 1913, and gradually established themselves to become a recognised benchmark among consumers. With deep respect for Portuguese identity, Barros wines embrace the Tawny, Ruby and White Port families. Founded in 1913 by Manuel de Almeida, Barros plays a central role in a story of Port Wine written in Portuguese. Its wines are born in the Douro, in the sub-regions of Baixo Corgo and Cima Corgo. Across their different categories, they express unmistakably Portuguese values: the schist soils and character of the Douro, and the art and creativity of blending in Vila Nova de Gaia. They are the sum of exceptional conditions and the result of a distinctly Portuguese vision of Port Wine.
